Autodesk Inventor is a computer aided design application for 3D mechanical design, simulation, visualization and documentation. Inventor allows people to create prototypes that can accurately simulate the weight, stress, friction, driving loads, etc. of products and their components in a simulated 3D environment. People are able to make parts and see what will work/fit and what may have to be shaved off to fit it into a object.
I first started the design in my notebook and then measured my phone and wrote down those dimensions and started putting the design from my note book into inventor and accounted for the 3% which made sure it would be the correct size when it finished printing. After I design and redesigned the object I then uploaded it to maker bot and made sure that I had no overhangs or anything was wrong with the print. Then I started to print and waited the long 6 hours for it to finish. The final object turned out very well and I use it all the time.
Doing this longer full project was a good experience and allowed me to get creative with designing, and making that design work into inventor and making the precise measurements of different phone types and opening to be able to view the screen when it is sitting up right. The longer project was fun because doing all the steps were cool and interesting in how once you have a vision that you can make that vision a reality.
